Reverse Engineering The Brain & Machine Learning

Two pieces by Converge Magazine discuss Mind & Machine Intelligence research at UCSB

March 20, 2020

The core research topics at the heart of the Mind & Machine Intelligence initiative are highlighted in each of the past two editions of UCSB College of Engineering's Convergence Magazine. The Winter quarter issue examines the various roles that machine learning (ML) now plays in a diverse array of research fields. The piece includes insights from Mind & Machine faculty Ambuj Singh on augmenting team dynamics with ML, Yu-Xiang Wang on data privacy, and William Wang on natural language processing (NLP). The Spring edition switches the line of inquiry from machines to the mind, with a large Focus piece on reverse engineering the brain that includes a discussion with Miguel Eckstein on modeling vision.
