The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for knowledge integration across disciplines, a critical component of rapid and effective coordinated responses to global crises. The NSF Rapid Response Research (RAPID) program, established to quickly fund urgent research and data sharing in response to disasters, has awarded Mind & Machine Intelligence faculty member Krzysztof Janowicz a grant to "develop a geographically integrated knowledge graph to support data scientists and decision-makers in industry and the government in taking region-specific steps towards reopening the country" (NSF abstract). Prof. Janowicz will work in coordination with a team from UC San Diego, led by Principal Investigator (PI) Peter Rose and Co-PI Ilya Zaslavsky, who received a separate NSF RAPID award.

More information can be found here in an article announcing the UC San Diego team's award.
