2020 Webinar Series - AI: Friend or Foe?

Date Start
Location
Online
Rachel Callcut, UC Davis

AI promises to bring great benefits in many domains by automating repetitive duties, speeding up processes, and freeing humans to focus on creative tasks. On the other hand, the use of AI systems can have unintended consequences, from unexpected decision making processes, to malicious manipulations.

One industry that AI can greatly enhance and seriously imperil is healthcare. In these two webinars, Prof. Rachael Callcut, UC Davis, and Prof. Glenn Cohen, Harvard University, will explore the bright (Rachael) and potentially dark (Glenn) side of using AI in healthcare.

Attendance is free but registration is required.

Glenn Cohen, Harvard Law School, “AI/ML in Health Care: Legal and Ethical Issue”
Friday, November 20, 2020 / 3:30 PM / FREE
RSVP required: sign-up here to receive the link to the webinar

Abstract: Hospital systems, device makers, and AI developers are spending huge amounts of money to bring Artificial Intelligence (AI) especially machine learning (ML) into health care. These efforts raise formidable logistical and design challenges, but also serious ethical and legal questions. This talk will survey some of those questions including privacy, liability, informed consent, discrimination, and regulatory models.
